Safeguarding and compliance · Australia

A lapsed check never quietly passes as current.

GovSport tracks working-with-children checks, safeguarding records and committee governance for Australian community sporting clubs. The day a check expires — or stops being verifiable — the person's status changes on its own, and the people who need to know are told.

Status is set by the system on the expiry date, not by whoever remembered. Illustrative example.

How it works

Built so the check can't quietly stop mattering.

✓ Current Check verified

The working-with-children check is recorded against the person, with the rules of the state or territory that issued it.

⚠ Renewal due Ahead of the date

Reminders start early enough to actually renew — earlier in schemes with short validity, where a renewal means a full fresh check.

✕ Lapsed Non-compliant, automatically

On expiry, or if the check can't be verified, the person is marked non-compliant without anyone acting. Clearance-gated activities stop accepting them.

This is what "fails closed" means here: an unknown, expired or unverifiable check is treated as not cleared, never as fine-until-proven-otherwise. Somebody has to decide to proceed; nobody has to decide to stop.

What you'd be using

The register a secretary opens on a Tuesday night.

Replace with a real capture from the app. Serve it from /assets/; the CSP allows img-src 'self' only.

The problem

Every club secretary knows the folder.

The spreadsheet

Credentials tracked in a workbook that was accurate in March, maintained by whoever had time, and never quite reconciled against who's actually on the field.

The check that lapsed

An expiry date that passed in May. Nobody was watching for it, because watching for it is somebody's unpaid Tuesday night.

The handover that didn't happen

The last secretary stood down and took eight years of context with them — in a personal inbox, on a home laptop, in their head.

Where things stand

Early access, honestly described.

GovSport is in active development and is not a finished product being sold to you. I'm looking for a small number of Australian clubs to work with during early access — real committees, real records, real feedback on what's missing.

If that's your club, the arrangement is straightforward: you get the platform and my time at no cost during early access, and I get an honest account of what does and doesn't work in a live season.

Built and run in Australia, by someone who has sat on the other side of the committee table.

Tell me about your club.

A few details is enough to start a conversation. I'll reply personally.
