Website privacy policy.
This policy covers the govsport.com.au website. If your club uses the GovSport platform, the handling of your club's records is governed by the agreement and the in-product privacy notices, which are stricter than this page.
Last updated: 1 September 2026.
Who is responsible
This website is operated by GovSport (ABN 76 532 407 200), a registered business name, in Australia. Contact: privacy@govsport.com.au.
What is collected, and why
Enquiries. If you use the contact form, or email me, I collect the details you provide — your name, club, role, email address and whatever you write in the message. It is used for one purpose: replying to you and any follow-up conversation that starts from your enquiry.
Technical request data. Like any website, requests to this site are logged by the hosting and network provider for security and reliability — including IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time. This is used to keep the site available and to stop abuse.
There are no analytics scripts, no advertising pixels, no social media trackers and no third-party fonts on this website. Nothing on this site sets a cookie.
Where it goes
Enquiries are sent to my mailbox through Amazon Web Services' email service in the Sydney region (ap-southeast-2) and are stored in that mailbox. The website itself stores nothing — the form hands the message to the mail service and keeps no copy.
Technical request data is processed by Cloudflare, which operates a global network. Being honest about this: connection-level data for a website visit may be processed on Cloudflare infrastructure outside Australia. That applies to browsing this marketing site. It does not apply to club records held in the GovSport platform, which are covered by separate residency commitments described on the security page.
What is not done
- Your details are not added to a marketing list, and no bulk marketing email is sent from this site.
- Your details are not sold, rented, or shared with any third party for their own purposes.
- No automated decision or profiling is applied to you.
How long it is kept
Enquiry correspondence is kept while the conversation is live and for up to two years afterwards, so that a club coming back to a previous discussion isn't starting from nothing. After that it is deleted. You can ask for it to be deleted sooner at any time.
Hosting and network logs are retained on the provider's standard schedule, which is a matter of weeks, not years.
Sensitive information
Please do not send details about players, members, children, incidents or complaints through the contact form or by email. If you do, I will delete it and ask you to send it through a secure channel instead. The contact form is a way to start a conversation, not a way to transfer records.
Your rights
You can ask me to give you a copy of the personal information I hold about you, to correct it if it's wrong, or to delete it. Write to privacy@govsport.com.au and I will respond within 30 days, usually much sooner.
If you are not satisfied with how I have handled your information, you can complain to me first, and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version is published here with a new date at the top. Material changes affecting people who have already contacted me will be notified by email.
Eligibility holds shared between sports
If you are suspended by a sporting body, or stood down for a medical reason such as concussion, the fact of that restriction, its category, the sport that issued it and its end date may be shared with other sports you register with through GovSport, so that you are not fielded while restricted. For a sport that does not use GovSport, its registered integrity contact may be sent your name and date of birth together with those same facts, and nothing else. No detail of the matter is shared. Every time a restriction is looked up, the lookup is recorded.
